Privacy Policy

Arkayen Labs ("we", "us") is the personal technology studio of Balaji. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit arkayenlabs.com, subscribe to our emails, contact us, or purchase something from us - and how we handle it. The short version: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

Email subscriptions. If you join our email list, we collect your email address (and your name, if you provide it) to send you updates about our apps, experiments, and writing. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to us.

Contact. If you email us at support@arkayenlabs.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond to you.

Purchases. Digital products are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details - we never see your card number. We receive your name, email address, and order details so we can deliver what you bought and provide support. See the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy for how they handle payment data.

Analytics. We use two analytics tools, and they behave differently:

• Vercel Analytics measures aggregate traffic (page views, countries, devices). It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites.
• Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages and posts are actually read. Unlike the above, it does set cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_*) to recognise a return visit, and it records your approximate location, browser, device type and the pages you view. We enable IP anonymisation, so your full IP address is not stored. It is a Google service and is also governed by Google's privacy policy.

We use analytics to understand what is worth writing more of. We have not linked Google Analytics to any advertising product and have not turned on Google Signals, so your activity here is not used to build an advertising profile or follow you to other sites.

Turning analytics off

You can block both tools with any content blocker, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Cookies and your choice

We set no cookies of our own, and there are no advertising cookies anywhere on this site. Two third parties do set them: the Google Analytics cookies described above, and a cookie hCaptcha may set on the contact page to tell people apart from bots.

Analytics cookies are off until you accept them. On your first visit you'll see a short prompt with Accept and Decline. We use Google Consent Mode, so until you accept, Google Analytics cannot write a cookie or read one. Decline and nothing on the site changes.

You can change your mind whenever you like: Cookie settings at the bottom of any page clears your choice and asks again, and withdraws consent immediately.

The hCaptcha cookie is not covered by that prompt. It is there to stop the contact form being abused by bots, and switching it off would mean a form nobody could submit.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
• We don't run ads or use advertising cookies.
• We don't send you email you didn't ask for.

Third-party services

This site is hosted on Vercel, which also provides its analytics. Google Analytics processes the usage data described above, on Google infrastructure that may sit outside your country. hCaptcha protects the contact form, Web3Forms delivers what you send through it, and Substack runs the newsletter if you subscribe. Each has its own privacy policy.

We also link to third-party platforms, including Google Play, Instagram, GitHub and our Lemon Squeezy store. Once you leave arkayenlabs.com, this policy no longer applies.

This policy does not cover our Android apps. Each app collects different data and has its own privacy policy and terms, listed on the legal page.

Data retention

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, support emails for as long as needed to help you, and order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Google Analytics data is deleted automatically after 14 months, and Vercel Analytics keeps only aggregate counts with nothing tied to an individual.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email support@arkayenlabs.com and we'll handle it promptly.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Meaningful changes to how we handle newsletter data will be announced by email.
