I'm Balaji Thukuntala. I build software and learn by doing.

I'm a software developer who builds things to understand how they work. Most of what I make starts with a question or a problem I want to solve for myself. Some of those projects turn into products that other people find useful too.

Right now, I spend most of my time working with Android - building apps with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, thinking about architecture, and trying to make software that feels good to use.

I'm also exploring AI and LLMs, specifically how they can be useful in developer workflows without adding unnecessary complexity. Not building chatbots - building tools that reduce friction in real work.

Arkayen Labs is where all of this lives. It's not a company - it's a label for my work. A place to ship products, document experiments, and share what I learn along the way.
